Benjamin is a part-time Safe House Advocate and a native of Hawaii. He joined the military immediately after graduating high school from Hilo High, Hawaii. He left the island paradise and joined the United States Navy and served 5 years active duty achieving the rank of Petty Officer Second Class (E-5) with the rate of AD2 (AW) – Aircraft Mechanic – with Aviation Warfare Insignia. He was initially in an Expeditionary Squadron serving multiple tours in the Middle East. After completing his active duty tour, he went straight into the Navy Reserves serving another 4 years on both the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) and USS Enterprise (CVN-65) while simultaneously working for the U.S. Border Patrol. After majoring in both Psychology and Education, Benjamin earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University. After teaching for an elementary school for 2 years, Benjamin joined the Veterans Resources Center as a Veteran Navigator for over a year. Benjamin had such a positive impact with his fellow Veterans and team members while at the VRC. He is also now a staff member of VetStar, continuing his service to the Veteran community.
Benjamin is the father of two boys and a girl of which two of his children are star basketball players at Caprock High School.
