Emergency Housing Advocate - PRN

Brittainy Barber is an Emergency Housing Advocate PRN.  Brittainy received her Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University, and her undergraduate degree in Behavioral Psychology from University of Phoenix.  Before moving to Amarillo in 2015, she was a psychiatric nurse assistant working on the competency unit at the state hospital.  Brittainy currently works full time at FirstBank Southwest as the Executive Assistant to the CEO.

As a survivor herself, Brittainy experienced the support and care through FSS in 2002, and believes that creating a safe space for survivors is imperative.  She began as a Volunteer SANE Advocate with FSS before transitioning into a part time Safe House Advocate.  She hopes that her passion for healing will help Family Support Services clients during a time of difficulty.

Brittainy’s favorite way to spend downtime is with her children and loved ones, playing the piano, writing poetry and random dancing.  She loves fall weather and has discovered a joy of baking fresh bread.  Her favorite place to recharge is in the mountains.
