Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher
Cynthia joined FSS in July of 2017 as their Trauma Informed yoga teacher. Cynthia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from West Texas A&M University. Cynthia is also a registered yoga teacher and holds a 200-hour yoga certification along with certifications in Trauma-Informed Yoga, Kids Yoga, Yoga for Seniors and restorative yoga. Cynthia has worked in various mental health settings and has taught yoga and group fitness classes since 2008.
She was previously a therapist at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. She also had the opportunity to work at a community mental health outpatient clinic in Colorado where she worked as a clinician. Cynthia has also worked as the director of social services at a continuum of care retirement community, as a counselor for the migrant education program for Amarillo ISD and as a discharge planner at a 495-bed academic teaching hospital.
On her free time, Cynthia enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading a variety of books, and practicing yoga.
Cynthia states that she feels grateful to be part of FSS and to have the opportunity to use yoga in a therapeutic way. She hopes to see you in one of her classes!
