Education and Prevention Staff provide the following types of educational programs, presentations and specialized training as part of our agency’s mission. All presentations are tailored to the type of audience we are presenting to taking into account size, age, content and length of time allotted for the presentation. We are committed to educating our community about our organization and the issues we respond to.

Teen Education and Prevention Staff provide the following types of educational programs, presentations and specific training as part of our agency’s mission. All presentations are tailored to the type of audience we are presenting to taking into account size, age, content and length of time allotted for the presentation. We are committed to educating our community about our organization and the issues we respond to.
GROUPS AND PROGRAMS
The Teen Education and Prevention Team provides a variety of Groups and programs, including but not limited to:
•Youth Advisory Committee, a teen run group devoted to making a positive impact in the community
•MASQ, A teen-led suicide prevention initiative
•Social Advocacy Support Groups, run monthly to encourage teens to “re-think” mental health and suicide stigma’s.
•Education Groups, where a variety of topics from coping with anxiety to preventing suicide are discussed, in a school based, community or church setting.
•Be a Mentor program, which is about connect a high-risk youth to an adult they can lean on for support.
•Todays Future Sound, which aims to teach character via music creation, as well as act as therapy.
•Teen Pregnancy Prevention, which aims to teach and help teens learn about teen pregnancy.
•Sounds Of Success, which allows students to learn music production, including beat-making, songwriting, recording, and mixing. In addition to learning the creative skill of music production, they also learn leadership characteristics and gain more self-esteem.
PRESENTATIONS
We offer presentations to schools, businesses, health care facilities, social services organizations or youth-serving organizations on:
•Healthy relationships: how to cultivate healthy, authentic relationships
•Anti-bullying: how to stand up for the underdog and What makes bully’s tick
•Teen pregnancy prevention: sex education doesn’t have to be taboo and awkward
•Teen suicide prevention and mental health awareness
• Body positivity: being a smelly teen is hard enough let’s just stare at Instagram for one more hour to make sure we feel really disappointed in our appearance.
•Who are you: let’s help young people look within themselves to find what makes them special
Parent Education and Support
Parenting programs at FSS provide one-on-one and group support to parents/caregivers of youth with emotional, behavioral and mental health issues. They include:
•Love and Logic Parent Education Groups, which are weekly sessions where parents can connect with other caregivers facing similar issues and receive information about raising children with various challenges.
•Healthy Outcomes Through Prevention and Early Support, (HOPES), which is a collaborative parent support group that is designed to provide parents and caregivers with the tools to strengthen their families’ wellbeing.
•The Strengthening Families Program, which helps families develop various skills related to keeping a family strong.
•Fatherhood Empowerment, which is committed to helping male caregivers become strong advocates and role models for their children.
OTHER EDUCATION AND SUPPORT
Substance Abuse Prevention
“Preventing teenagers from abusing drugs and alcohol means getting them through a vulnerable time in their life”
At FSS, our substance abuse prevention strategies educate and avert individuals from engaging in behaviors which may lead to unhealthy lifestyles and future substance abuse. To this end, FSS provides a series of educational classes in the community, alternative drug-free activities, youth mentoring, as well as specialized presentations, referrals, and information dissemination.
HUMAN TRAFFICKING PREVENTION
Human Trafficking is a crime against humanity. It involves an act of recruiting, transporting, transferring, harboring or receiving a man, woman or child through the use of force, fraud, coercion or other means, for the purpose of exploiting them for labor or sex trafficking.
